For the overall theme of this SDPix issue 84, we wanted to complement San Diego Pride’s official “Freedom to Love & Marry” theme and chose “Summer of Love” as the theme of this shoot. I personally selected all of the models, looking to represent the diversity of women in our community for Pride. For the men, I selected guys younger than typically on the cover compared to previous issues. We wanted to portray a fun and relaxed poolside look, spending time with friends soaking up the sun, and rejoicing for the anticipated end of DOMA & Prop 8 (which happened, yay!). My photography partner Isaiah Walter of Glitteratti Media worked on developing this concept, setting up, and snapping the shoot with me, as well as Mallory of MOstyling to make sure everyone looked their best. It was shot on location at the beautiful Lafayette Hotel Pool in North Park.
