Meet Kevin. Creative. Poetic. Outgoing. Genuine. Loving. Generous. Thoughtful. Deep. And that’s after hardly getting to know him. We scheduled this shoot for the very next day after discovering we both had a booked month ahead of us, but nothing going on the next day. We met in a North Park neighborhood and set out for a gorgeous park nearby with his furry dogchild Winston. Kids playing. Couples making out. Dogs walking. Bums stumbling. The golden sun overhead was sinking into the horizon slowly on this lovely late afternoon in San Diego. Our photo ideas were flowing, the conversation filled with laughter and smiles. Two hours took us on a creative journey through eucalyptus trees and humanmade structures. Perfectly executed dance jumps over grass and under blue skies. Sun flares in my lense. We made our way back to the car and stopped at a cozy coffeehouse and settled on antique furniture. I took over the surrounding wood floor sliding my chair over aged hardwood, people looking up from their laptops and newspapers, whispers between friends and quick glances of nosiness. We had already outgrown the space inside and walked around to the outdoor space where curved wrought iron winded around people talking. Kevin’s cup empty, walking back to the car, both excited and satisfied with the afternoon’s creative outlet of captured time and a deeper friendship. xo Cali
